Along Came June's Ferry Crossing Quilt

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Today is Monday and BOY is it Monday! Lately I've been binge-watching Making the Cut as I sew masks and answer emails, but today I figured it was time for a little mini-photoshoot for my favorite homemade quilt (so far!).

The Ferry Crossing Quilt pattern by Along Came June's Meghan Buchanan is a dream to work with. I ordered the PDF pattern to print at home, and the instructions were great, with plenty of diagrams and illustrations and helpful tips for piecing squares together. I found myself hooked on the combination of prints and completed the main sewing in just a couple of days - a few weeks later I got down to the brass tacks (or the needle and thimble?) and started quilting! I decided to use a bright pink thread so that it stood out, rather then blending into the surrounding fabrics.

Rusty/burnt orange is one of my favorites to use in my sewing projects - it fits well with so many other colors and can easily segue from the main shade or a supporting character.

I'm looking forward to following another one of Meghan's patterns and playing with different color combinations. There's some bright orange quilting thread that's calling my name!

See y'all next time!
